Guard: Lock from the back
The Ideal attack requires that your opponent be attacking from the rear. He is applying a hammerlock to your right arm with his right hand (palm up).
1. Left Step Back counterclockwise to 4:30 into a Right Transitional Neutral Bow Stance (modify the depth or width of your stance as the situation dictates). Use a Right Hand Counter Grab to control your opponent's right wrist.
2. Continue to pivot your entire body counterclockwise into a Left Neutral Bow Stance (facing 6:00), as you attempt to deliver a Left Outward Elbow Strike to your opponent's face, and have it blocked.
3. Left Step Forward toward 12:00 into a Right Reverse Cat Stance. Straighten your right arm during this transition, while attempting to maintaining your grab to your opponent's right wrist.
4. Deliver a Right Thrusting Back Heel Kick to your opponent's right ribcage and Plant your right foot toward 6:00.
5. Pivot into a Right Neutral Bow Stance (facing 6:00). The opponent pulls his right wrist free during your kicking action.
6. Deliver a Left Roundhouse Shin Kick to your opponent's right thigh, then Plant your left foot toward 6:00.
7. Deliver a Right Knee to your opponent's ribs or liver, while delivering a Right Inward Overhead Heel Palm to the back of your opponent's neck. At the same time execute a Left Pressing Check controlling your opponent's side.
8. Plant Forward toward 6:00 into a Right Neutral Bow Stance while pushing your opponent off of your right knee and onto the ground.
9. Perform a Right Front Crossover and Cover Out toward 1:30.
Though there are similarities between techniques named here the techniques taught in the different branches of the Kenpo family also have notable differences.
We know that each school presents information with a different style and signature that is uniquely associated with their staff and students. Always defer to the instructing staff at your school for guidance should there be any differences in the information being presented.
