Once a year, the American Institute of Kenpo gathers to honor students who showed exceptional effort, character, and skill over the past year. Four students are recognized in each of the following categories:

 

  • Kenpo Youth Student of the Year

​

  • Kenpo Juniors Student of the Year

​

  • Junior Black Belt Student of the Year

​

  • Leader of the Year

​

  • Kenpo Seniors Student of the Year

​

  • Senior Black Belt of the Year

​

  • Instructor of the Year

​

  • Senior Instructor of the Year

​

  • Family of the Year

​

  • Sparring Student of the Year

​

  • Tactical Sparring Student of the Year

​

  • Competitor of the Year

​

In addition to these performance awards, AIK occasionally presents Specialty Awards. These are unique and often given with a sense of humor.

Banquet Meal

 

All meals include:

  • Chips and Salsa

  • Mexican Rice

  • Beans

  • Choice of Entrée

  • Dessert

  • Choice of Water, Soda, or Tea — alcoholic beverages (full bar) available on your own tab

Each Ticket includes 1 entrée:

 

Tacos: Crispy corn shell with lettuce and tomato.

  • Adult plate: 3 tacos

  • Child plate: 1 taco

  • Options: Shredded Beef or Shredded Chicken

​

Flautas: Crispy corn shell with guacamole and sour cream.

  • Adult plate: 4 flautas

  • Child plate: 2 flautas

  • Options: Shredded Beef or Shredded Chicken

​

Enchiladas: Soft corn tortillas filled with cheese.

  • Adult plate: 2 enchiladas

  • Child plate: 1 enchilada

  • Options: Red Sauce, Green Sauce, or White Sauce

How Nominees Are Selected

Our instructional staff selects nominees based on these criteria:

​

1) Attendance

Talent matters, but consistency matters more. Regular class attendance is essential for real progress.

 

2) Skill Level
Nominees should show solid proficiency in presentation, application, and knowledge of the art.

 

3) Martial Development and Improvement
We look for students who made clear, measurable growth over the past year.

 

4) General Interaction
Nominees should support their classmates and help make training positive, productive, and enjoyable for everyone.

​

Nominees are especially encouraged to attend and receive their recognition in person. Even if you were not nominated, you are welcome to join us and celebrate another year of training and camaraderie.
