Awards Banquet

Once a year The American Institute of Kenpo hosts a social evening where we recognize our students that have shown outstanding effort and martial performance for that year. We nominate three students in each of the following performance categories:

  • Kenpo Youth Student of the Year

  • Kenpo Juniors Student of the Year

  • Junior Black Belt Student of the Year

  • Leader of the Year

  • Kenpo Seniors Student of the Year

  • Senior Black Belt of the Year

  • Instructor of the Year

  • Family of the Year

  • Sparring Student of the Year

  • Advanced Sparring Student of the Year

When choosing nominations for these performance awards, our instructing staff evaluates our students on the following:

1) Attendance: Just because a student is talented it does not diminish a students need for training. To be nominated, students must be attending classes regularly.

2) Skill Level: To be nominated, students must be proficient in the art. In this area we look for those that exemplify the art in the presentation, application, and knowledge.

3) Martial Development and Improvement: To be nominated, students must be making notable personal gains in their martial ability over the year.

4) General Interaction: To be nominated, students must be able to interact well with the other students. The American Institute of Kenpo greatly appreciates and enjoys recognizing those that contribute to making training fun, enjoyable, and beneficial for their fellow martial artists.

In addition to the performance awards, The American Institute of Kenpo occasionally hands out Speciality Awards. The Speciality Awards are unique awards that tend to have a humorous intent to them.

The American Institute of Kenpo would love to have all nominees present to receive awards and recognition for their efforts at this unique annual event. Even if you have not been nominated, The American Institute of Kenpo would love to have you join us and celebrate another year of good company and training.
