American Kenpo Karate (Kids, Junior, & Senior Programs)
Kenpo
Kids Program
For children 4-6, the Kenpo Kids Program teaches
basic concepts of discipline, fair play, and
personal safety in a setting of fun and challenging
activities.
Emphasis is placed on reinforcing the good habits of
exercise and behavior, as well as teaching awareness
of "stranger danger" and basic emergency response
such as knowing key names and phone numbers.
The students are given a simplified understanding of
Kenpo skills that they can build upon as they move
through the program.
Students can set and achieve goals as they move
through the charted Kenpo Kids belt system.
Junior Kenpo Program For
children 7-14, the Junior Kenpo Program is intended
to give a solid immersion in self-defense as
contained in the American Kenpo style.
The level of activity provides an appropriate
challenges for this age group.
Opportunities for mock combat through sparring are
provided in a setting that stresses safety as the
most important factor.
In addition, each month, there is a theme for
personal growth and development. These themes each
have assignments for completion outside of the
karate school.
Students can earn recognition patches to put on
their uniforms, but also learn important life skills
such as integrity, courage, and discipline.
Senior Kenpo Program For
students 15 and older, the Senior Kenpo Program
presents the complete American Kenpo System,
containing the material developed by Senior
Grandmaster Ed Parker.
Each rank level contains self-defense techniques,
prescribed forms (sets & katas), and routines for
development of basic Kenpo skills.
Opportunities for sparring are provided to develop
confidence and skill in a safe and controlled
environment.
The program emphasizes developing the total person:
physical, mental, and emotional.
Personal progress is monitored and encouraged
through a clear and timely belt ranking system.
